For dialogue recording, ADR Studio plug-in was used. Most of foley sounds were also recorded with the use of ADR. All sounds above were recorded on the premises – Studio D – of Salford University, using Digidesign C24 Control Surface and two Mackie 824 Mk2 Monitors. Characters’ voices are ours – females- because there were no available actors during the production period.

We utilised various known and self-inspired editing and mixing (stereo & 5.1) techniques, many plug-ins (TDM & RTAS) and the Absynth 4 synthesiser.

Elephants Dream is the world’s first 3D animated “Open movie”, made entirely with open source graphics software such as Blender, and with all contents of this movie available to be used free under a Creative Common License. Elephants Dream is a short film story that was created by the Orange Open Movie Project studio in Amsterdam during 2005/2006.

The story is about two strange characters exploring a capricious and seemingly infinite machine. The elder, Proog, acts as a tour-guide and protector, happily showing off sights and dangers of the machine to his initially curious, but increasingly skeptical protege Emo. As their journey unfolds, we discover that the machine is not all Proog thinks it is, and his guiding takes on a more desperate aspect.
